Volunteer: Driver & Delivery (Giant Pick-Up)

We are seeking volunteers to assist with picking up donated food from retailers and transporting the donations to BES to be used at the Weekend Bagged Lunches and the Shelter. Volunteers must have reliable transportation, climb stairs, and be able to lift up to 30lbs waist high. Volunteers must be 18 years or older to transport donations.

Join us to review food safety training designed for nonprofits, Cooking for Crowds. The course will be taught through Penn State Extension. Free for volunteers.

The course will start promptly at 5:30pm and end at 8:30pm. Volunteers will enter through the BES entrance on Walnut Street.

Volunteer Coordinators will learn to navigate Galaxy Digital to sign up their team and sign-up new volunteers to their group. Please bring the computer/iPad/device you use to sign up for nights with you. Using your phone is not recommended.

If you wear glasses to see up close, please bring your eyeglasses. 

We will meet in the All Purpose Room of Christ Church UCC. 75 E. Market Street.

If you use a desktop computer at home, please notify Maria Shior, 484-602-5505, before training so a PC can be made available for you to use during training.

Volunteers should wear clothing that can get dirty, closed-toed shoes, and bring a water bottle. 

The shelter entrance is on the Walnut Street side of the building. There is no onsite parking, but street parking is nearby. Please be mindful of street cleaning days.
